Zhang Chen led a delegation to French Reunion Island, Mauritius and South Africa

From August 28th to September 6th, Vice Mayor Zhang Chen led Meizhou delegation to French Reunion Island, Mauritius, South Africa for a ten-day exchange visit, to promote Meizhou share development opportunities of “The Belt and Road” with these countries, strengthen exchanges and cooperation; they visited overseas Chinese societies and community leaders, and informed the situation of economic and social development of Meizhou.

In French Reunion, Zhang Chen and his entourage visited the Reunion GuanYu Culture Association, the Le Tampon municipal government, the Chinese Embassy of Mauritius, RenHe hall, Meizhou-Port Louis economic and cultural liaison office, South Africa Hakka Association, Meizhou-Johannesburg economic and cultural liaison office, South Africa-China Shenzhen General Chamber of Commerce (South Africa - Chinese Shenzhen Association), the Police Cooperation Center of South Africa, West Cape Town Province Guangdong chamber of Commerce and association of overseas Chinese, to understand the living status quo of overseas Chinese, and had an discussion with Le Tampon government officials, Ambassador of Mauritius Sun Gongyi, minister of local government of Mauritius Jia GeLu, Georgia mayor Hans Berty Margueritte respectively,and actively explored cooperation in all aspects.

During the visit, the delegation also paid a visit to the mayor of Le Tampon Zeng Xianjian (André Thien Ah Koon), and community leaders Zhong Songfang, Lin Jianxiang, Lin Youfu, Chen Yunsheng, Wen Yaobin. Zhang Chen introduced the economic and social development of Meizhou to the overseas Chinese, especially briefed the preparations for the fifth World Hakka Merchants Conference and Meizhou's construction of "One District and Two Belt with Six Groups”, warmly invited them to participate in the fifth World Hakka Merchants Conference held in November this year in Meizhou, actively participate in the Meizhou economic and social development, and promote exchanges and cooperation between two sides.
